"For me yoga has been a journey of curiously exploring my body and mind and the way I subtly shift day to day, hour to hour. My intention is to help you connect to your breath, your intuition, and a deep sense of presence that you can take with you out into the world."
Steph discovered yoga through her first guru (her mom) at the age of 14 and feels fortunate to have spent her formative teenage years learning about embodiment and chanting with her family. The practice captured her attention further while attending university and looking for a tool to help her navigate the stress and exertion of that time, and she completed her first 200-hr teacher training in 2012. Since then, Steph has taken every opportunity available to deepen her understanding of this ancient practice. She’s traveled to India twice to immerse herself in traditional training and practices with Kia Miller, and is honored to be considered one of Kia’s senior teachers. Steph has also been fortunate enough to travel throughout the U.S. to study with established ashtanga vinyasa teachers such as Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor. She is grateful to her teachers for providing the example of practicing what you teach, and has had a dedicated sadhana practice since 2016.
Steph has a degree in Exercise + Sport Science with a Nutrition Minor, and has studied and been influenced by Ashtanga, Hatha, Tantra, Himalayan, and Kundalini schools. Her approach to yoga is playful yet grounded, and her intention is to connect you with your breath, alignment, and the more subtle aspects of yourself. Her classes are accessible to all levels and often incorporate arm balances and inversions, mantra, and meditation. Steph currently leads immersive retreats and programs around the world and online that provide the opportunity to dive deeply into traditional practices, recalibrate your nervous system, and establish balancing rituals that deepen a sense of peace and joy.
Steph’s mission is to incorporate the deep philosophical components of the yoga practice into a grounded embodiment practice, and to provide students the space to listen to what their bodies and nervous systems are asking for at any given moment. Her life has been profoundly impacted by learning to listen to the small voice within, and she has created several online courses that guide students to commit to a dedicated meditation practice so they can practice listening to themselves. She is currently studying to be a Postpartum Ayurdoula, and spends her free time exploring nature, experimenting with Human Design, and enjoying music with her partner and loved ones.
Steph is a 2/4 Self-Projected Projector, and began her Human Design experiment in 2019. She studied with Jenna Zoe and from there took off running, doing readings with all her friends and family. Those sessions gradually led to readings with people from all over the world, where Steph noticed common patterns and correlations between Human Design and yoga philosophy. In every session, participants are asked to set an intention and to learn the material in a practical way that one can apply to one’s daily life.
